Description

The Catering Manager is someone who has a deep passion for customer service and food. They are a problem-solver with strong work ethic and leadership skills. The Catering Manager understands that customer satisfaction is key, especially with catering services. They are an experienced leader who enjoys organizing and catering special events. They will be responsible for developing and executing catering solutions to meet customer needs. 


Responsibilities

  • Identify and delegate responsibilities to catering staff to ensure objectives are met and excellent service is consistently achieved;
  • Manage operations with passion, integrity, and knowledge while promoting the culture and values of the company;
  • Consistently review catering operations and staff to identify any problems, concerns, and opportunities for improvement;

  • Provide coaching and feedback to staff and assess performance on and ongoing basis;

  • Create a positive guest experience by delivering a high level of service and ensuring all staff engage guests to understand their needs and exceed expectations;

  • Manage the catering services to meet or exceed standards in food quality, safety, cleanliness, and timeliness;

  • Consistently monitor product and labor costs to remain within goals;

  • Solicit guest feedback to understand the needs and wants of customers;

  • Train and coach staff on guest services principles and practices;

  • Deliver drop-off and on-site catering services;

  • Organize and monitor catering drop-off and on-site services;

  • Follow the company’s policies and procedures, including those for cash handing and safety/security;

  • Offer new menu solutions to management;

  • Develop and implement creative solutions to areas of improvement;

  • Conduct pre-event meetings;

  • Ensure proper and safe delivery/distribution of catered products;

  • Creative a positive and memorable experience for customers;

  • Train and manage employees to ensure knowledge of food menus and promotional calendars;

  • Develop and maintain effective client and customer rapport for mutually beneficial business relationships;

  • Develop and execute strategies to achieve catering revenue forecasts;

  • Responsible for delivering food and labor targets;

  • Responsible for executing catering events of varied size and scope, including staffing and management.;

  • Ensure accurate reporting of all catering related revenue, expenses, and receivables;

  • Coordinate activities with other departments as appropriate;

The ideal candidate is a self-starter and will have:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of catering and catering logistics, casual and fine dining, and banquet management;

  • Excellent event planning skills, and is visionary in regards to buffet presentations and creativity;

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and is expert in client/customer, guest, and employee relations;

  • Excellent communication skills;

  • Ability to work independently and in concert with co-managers to manage the daily operations of the catering department through direct supervision of non-exempt/hourly employees, including hiring, orientating, scheduling, training, and developing employees.

  • Excellent time management skills, adapts well to dynamic change, and is driven to get the job done with excellence in a timely manner;

  • High level of integrity and considers the best interest of our employees, clients/customers, and our operation;

  • Experience in high volume activity, employee/staff training, labor management and control systems.
