HR Partners on behalf of our client, Tara Resources autorized to lead Brskovo mining project in Montenegro, which has the potential to be one of the largest and lowest cost open pit zinc mines in Europe, producing zinc, lead and copper concentrates, is seeking a highly motivated Environment and Community Specialist! Environment and Community Specialist
Location: Mojkovac
 
Job description:
  • Ensuring the EIA and ESIA activities are conducted with due consideration to quality, transparency, (in terms of regulatory and community clarity)
  • Development of an Environmental (and Social) Management plan that will be used/adapted throughout the project Construction and Operational phases
  • Be the Brskovo DOO representative on the EIA and ESIA teams and update/report Tara and Brskovo management against both
  • Be a key representative of Brskovo DOO in terms of key regulatory (Agency for Environmental Protection) and government (Montenegrin and Mojkovac) reporting and communications
  • Be a key representative of Brskovo DOO in Community consultation processes, including the Land Acquisition Process
  • Communicate with all contractors and relevant functional leads to ensure that environmental standards are met at all times and that any incidents are reported, mitigated and further controls implemented
  • Attend and minute key and periodic meetings with Community, Local Government and Regulators
  • Establish environmental and community team as the project progresses towards Construction and Operations
  • Work with company leads, contractors, consultants, towards continuous improvement of Environmental controls including measurement and management of carbon footprint and other emissions/pollutants
  • Translation duties as required
Minimum job requirements:
  • Relevant tertiary degree – Bachelor or Master of Environmental Science or Engineering
  • Relevant training in Environmental Management according to Montenegrin and internationally accepted standards
  • Relevant training in Community Relations according to Montenegrin and internationally accepted standards
  • A good-high level of written and spoken Montenegrin and English
  • 5+ years post-graduate work experience, preferably in both the private and public sectors
  • Experience in the planning, preparation, implementation and delivery of Environmental (and Social) Impact Assessments according to Montenegrin and International Standards and expectations
  • Experience in environmental baseline and ongoing measurement and monitoring programmes, including data management and internal and regulatory reporting
  • Engagement with local and state government departments, community members and representatives
  • Experience in land acquisition programmes will be well regarded
  • Experience in calculation of Carbon and other pollutant emissions and controls
  • Report writing, data management and information dissemination in English and Montenegrin
Profile of the requested candidate:
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft suite, CAD software and database management.
  • Ability to work without supervision, in a timely manner and to meet deadlines.
  • Clear, concise and polite verbal and written communication, including spoken and written English
  • Maintenance of effective working relationships with corporate and management teams, regulatory authorities, contractors, employees and other departments.
  • An eye for detail in planning and organisation with an ability to appreciate implications for the achievement of medium-longer term schedule objectives
  • An ability to listen carefully and translate English to Montenegrin during technical and regulatory meetings
