Darkmont is a private business comprised of limited-liability entities in the United States and Montenegro. We are a start-up specializing in U.S. taxation and accounting software, finance & retirement automation & planning, industry research, and business operations optimization.
Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and creative Visual Designer to join our firm on a part-time basis working remotely (online). As a Visual Designer, you will play a crucial role in designing visually stunning, innovative, and branded elements to be used across our enterprise both internally and externally.
Internally, you will design organizational guides, templates, and project outlines. Externally, you will help design and develop multiple websites, our social media pages, and other customer-facing platforms. You will collaborate directly with the business founder to ensure the design effectively communicates complex information in a visually engaging and persuasive manner. You will have complete freedom to be as creative and innovative as you wish, work whenever and wherever you want, as long as you deliver on our agreed-upon deadlines and attend the mandatory weekly meetings that we plan together.
DISCLAIMERS - “A”:
- You MUST speak, write, and understand English fluently; we will not provide any training in this area.
- You MUST possess a computer, have a strong knowledge of internet use, and have a strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word; we will only provide advanced training in these areas.
- You MUST be self-sufficient; this is not a job where you will be given a detailed description or a step-by-step of what to do. You will get an idea or a vision we have, and it will be up to you to execute however you wish.
- You MUST be proactive; if we must chase you to remind you of deadlines & targets, you are not the person we are looking for.
- You DO NOT need to have any coding or programming language; we will provide all necessary training for non-coding website design using Wix.com.
DISCLAIMER “B”:
We invite everyone who can perform visual design regardless of their education, qualifications, or experience to apply. We understand that careers change and that hobbies become careers – we also understand that sometimes all one must be given is the first chance to jump–start a successful career.
If you can demonstrate during the interview and the short design skill-demo project that you can fulfill this role, we will be happy to offer it to you – that simple. This includes everyone from current students with no prior experience to actively employed professionals just looking to get some extra hours doing something they love. We are looking for people who can add genuine value to our business while adhering to our principles and goals – if you prove to us that you can do that, we will not bother analyzing your previous experience, education, or training.
Responsibilities:
- Communicate using English as the primary language of business.
- Maintain complete professionality, integrity, honesty, and complete transparency of all work conducted during the regular course of business.
- Adhere to Darkmont’s founding business principles at all times during contract duration, understand and actively help us pursue our organizational goals.
- Collaborate with the business founder and other members of the team to understand and design visually compelling business elements to be featured on company’s projects, ventures, enterprise platforms, and any other relevant destinations.
- Provide visual materials and elements with strong consistency and adherence to our firm's branding and visual identity.
- Help establish a tangible and recognizable firm’s branding and visual identity that can be standardized.
- Develop innovative and eye-catching data visualizations, infographics, charts, and diagrams to enhance the clarity and impact of the internal and external business visual elements across all destinations.
- Incorporate typography, color schemes, and layout techniques to create aesthetically pleasing and easy-to-navigate designs.
- Conduct thorough quality checks to ensure accuracy, proper formatting, and adherence to agreed-upon project requirements and deadlines.
- Spearhead all website design efforts, attend pre-planned web design training and planning sessions, provide innovative ideas, oversee progress, and maintain deliverables on an agreed-upon timeline.
- Create branded social media elements and other promotional marketing materials needed to execute our reach strategy.
- Design elements to be published within future book projects and all other commercial publishing, both physical and virtual.
- Attend mandatory business meetings and events both virtually and in-person (if applicable).
- Provide and seek on-going feedback for organizational and business development of both you and the business.
- Contribute to Darkmont Book Club on a monthly basis with reading related to visual and web design and present findings.
- Offer innovative ideas and feedback to help us improve our operations!
Qualifications:
- Fluent in English with excellent written and verbal communication skills, as all business operations are conducted in English (interviews conducted in English ONLY).
- Possess a reliable computer (including microphone and camera for online meetings) and strong internet connection (we do not currently provide equipment).
- Proven experience as a Visual Designer or a similar role, preferably in software development, business consulting, or another professional service-based environment. (READ DISCLAIMER “B”)
- Strong portfolio demonstrating exceptional skills in designing business reports, presentations, or similar deliverables – an impressive portfolio will get you much further in our recruiting process than any form of education or certification.

- Expertise in data visualization techniques and the ability to translate complex information into visually appealing graphics.
- Strong understanding of typography, color theory, and layout principles.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to maintain consistency in design across multiple reports and templates.

- Proficiency and experience with Microsoft Suite tools (Outlook E-mail, Teams, Power Point, Excel, Word). - Absolutely crucial to be willing to learn Microsoft Outlook & Teams as all company communication takes place using these systems.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
- Degree in graphic design, visual communication, or a related field is preferred but NOT MANDATORY. (READ DISCLAIMER “B”).
