We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated professional to join our finance team in the position of:
HEAD OF ACCOUNTING
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Accounting and Financial Reporting
Organizes and oversees the hotel’s complete accounting system, ensuring the accuracy and compliance of financial records.
Proposes and implements the company’s accounting policies in accordance with business strategy and applicable regulations.
Responsible for the proper application of IAS/IFRS and Montenegrin accounting and tax regulations.
Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, balance sheets, and supporting documentation.
In the absence of the Financial Controller, independently prepares and submits budgets, financial, and statistical reports.
Participates in closing the books at the end of accounting periods and the fiscal year.
Control and Supervision of Financial Processes
Oversees daily financial activities, including cash operations, bank transactions, and payments.
Controls proper posting of business documentation (incoming and outgoing invoices, bank statements, payroll calculations, inventory).
Ensures proper management of petty cash, advances, and cash payments.
Supervises reconciliation of open items for customers and suppliers.
Monitors, analyzes, and evaluates receivables, including proposing write-offs of doubtful and disputed receivables.
Budgeting, Analysis, and Reporting
Participates in preparing the hotel’s budget and monitors its implementation.
Prepares monthly financial performance reports and enhances financial reporting standards.
Prepares internal and external reports, including monthly reports related to the hotel industry.
Ensures timely distribution of daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
Assets, Inventory, and Reconciliations
Maintains and supervises records of fixed assets and small inventory.
Controls depreciation calculations.
Organizes and participates in the annual inventory count and reconciliation of company assets.
Team Management and Cooperation
Organizes, coordinates, and supervises the work of accounting department employees.
Provides professional guidance and support in daily operations.
Cooperates with the Financial Controller, Finance Director, Hotel Director, external institutions, tax authorities, and auditors.
Communicates and aligns financial activities with tour operators and partners.
Compliance, Documentation, and Additional Responsibilities
Responsible for safekeeping and archiving all accounting documentation.
Continuously monitors changes in legal and tax regulations and provides guidance on their implementation.
Performs other tasks within their scope as assigned by the Finance Director.
Requirements:
Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting, including at least 2 years in a managerial or independent role.
Excellent knowledge of IAS/IFRS and Montenegrin accounting and tax regulations.
Experience in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
Experience working with accounting and hotel information systems (ERP, PMS – an advantage).
Knowledge of budgeting, financial control, and cost analysis.
Active command of English (written and spoken); additional languages are an advantage.
Advanced computer literacy (MS Excel – advanced level; other MS Office tools).
Knowledge of hotel industry operations is a significant advantage.
High level of professional integrity, responsibility, and discretion.
Strong analytical and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and make decisions within the scope of responsibility.
Precision, systematic approach, and attention to detail.
Ability to manage time and work under deadline pressure.
Developed leadership and mentoring skills in team management.
